Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia
Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia : Youth Guidance and Development Agency
Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia have been serving youth in Philadelphia’s most impoverished communities for over 125 years. Consistently acting as a pioneer in program and service enhancement, the Nicetown Club opened in 1892 as the first Club in the Nation to serve girls and in 1896 our Wissahickon site opened as the first Club to serve African-Americans since its inception.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Clubs provide a variety of services to youth including preschool, after-school, and teen programming; fostering creativity and opportunities for learning in five core areas: Education & Career Development, Character & Leadership Development, Health & Life skills, Arts & Culture, and Sports & Recreation.
