Sun Sentinel says "Who knew that on this unassuming Lake Worth street, a gem of a restaurant existed? While owner Angelo Romano calls his restaurant Italian, it also veers heavily into continental territory. From the 1,200-bottle wine list to the exquisitely suited waiters, Paradiso resonates with a formality you usually only find in Palm Beach County's hotel dining rooms. Like those hotels, prices are high, but there's a $48 per person prix fixe that gives diners a wonderful tour of the Paradiso menu.

You get a true feeling of Italy when you enter. There's a case of pastries on the right. A wide mirror hangs above the hostess stand, giving you a last chance to check your visage before entering the dining room. The wonderfully accented waiters seem to all wear pinstriped suits and bright ties. There's something about this restaurant that sets your expectations high.

Romano, who grew up on the Amalfi coast of Italy, loves to prepare seafood, but that bias isn't evident on the menu. Order anything from the sea, however, and you won't be disappointed.

I asked, for instance, if the fresh marinated anchovies on the menu were indeed fresh. When I was told they were, I ordered a salad of roasted pepper, artichokes and anchovies ($18). Romano starts with fresh ingredients and does not go wrong. Another composed salad -- Maine lobster, avocado, celery, olives, grape tomatoes and mustard sauce ($28) -- was equally fulfilling. There are more traditional tossed salads including a very good house salad of baby greens, string beans, roasted peppers and feta ($12) and another made with endive, radicchio, arugula and bibb tossed with balsamic ($10).

The menu is so tempting that it will be difficult to decide. But four of us decide on a pasta course where we share three different appetizer sized pastas. Each of them is cooked perfectly, from ravioli to spaghetti. The ravioli ($14/ appetizer, $20/entree) is filled with ricotta and lightly smoked mozzarella and tossed in a light tomato and basil sauce. Spaghetti is tossed with veal meat sauce ($14, $20). Our favorite was the risotto ($24, $38) with lobster, black truffles and artichokes."
